Loud & Clear: How Noise, Lights & Time Can Improve Your Door Security Against Burglars

theBulldog Bar Squad is making it loud & clear: Noise, light & time can significantly increase door security at your household (which means you can be even more protected against burglars).

It's true! By using these 3 omnipresent elements to your advantage when it comes to burglary prevention, your humble abode can have the best home security measures in place at all times.

Here's how:

Silence isn't golden, NOISE is!Any slight noise on your turf can serve as huge deterrent for a potential thief to proceed with his (or her) plans. That's why we at theBulldog Bar urge you to get a pet! Keep in mind-- this new companion at your castle doesn't necessarily have to be a "yappy" dog... It could just be some small critter or feathered friend (like a guinea pig or a duck) that's capable of making noise when any spontaneous movement is detected on your property. If your adopted animal must live outdoors, that's an added bonus. They'll be the first to alert you of any suspicious activity taking place outside your door.

Look on the bright side... with LIGHTS!
Make sure all your exterior lights are nice & bright. They can act as spotlights on any trespassing criminal hoping to break in. Another strategy to take into consideration is installing your outdoor fixtures up high or "out of reach" so invaders can't easily get to them to unscrew the bulbs. The use of variable timers on all your illumination devices can especially work to your advantage when you are away for a few days, because your home will deceivingly appear occupied to the "bad guys."

Stop... Hammer TIME (literally)!
Make it a time-consuming task for home invaders to gain entry into your domicile. By taking a few minutes to put in some effective double or deadbolt locks, you can make it too much of a headache for a burglar to try and get past your entryway!

Another way to put time on your side is to invest in theBulldog Bar as an added reinforcement to your high-quality locks. Our door security products are so powerful, no burglar will be able to kick in your door to commit a crime at your residence.

Gone in 60 Seconds: Why Alarms May Not Be the Best Home Security

As homeowners we sometimes make the mistake of relying solely on one security product to protect our residences from break-ins.

If one of those devices you depend on most happens to be an alarm system... you may want to continue reading.

Here's 3 reasons why we at theBulldog Bar believe alarms may not be the best home security when it comes to keeping burglars off our territory:

1) Alarm systems allow crooks up to one minute to find your alarm panel and disable it, once they've already gained access to your dwelling.
If you think 30-60 seconds is too little time to find your alarm panel, think again. Try timing yourself coming in the front door and running to your alarm panel. Chances are you will get there in 10 seconds or less. That leaves you at least 20 seconds to destroy the alarm panel (if you were a thief), and another 30 seconds to grab a few valuables and run...before authorities associated with your alarm company are even notified. Which brings us to our next point...

2) Security alarms don’t alert the police until after sirens have gone off for 60 seconds.
If a burglar however, is able to successfully destroy or disable your alarm system before that 60-second countdown is up, then the alarm will NOT call and alert the police AT ALL. What we're saying here is this... At this point, after the damage has been done, your security alarm is now rendered useless.

3) The main point of entry for burglars during a heist is typically your front door.
Entryways like your front door are the main entrances people use when coming home... So upon being opened or simply kicked in, the alarm starts beeping and counting down for 30, 45 or 60 seconds giving someone ample time to walk to your keypad and disarm the alarm system. Unfortunately your security alarm can’t tell the difference between a burglar kicking in the door and you walking in as usual, so it treats the burglar just like you and waits 30 to 60 seconds before the alarm goes off. Scary, right?

If you're looking for a better way to reinforce door security at your humble abode with a powerful way of preventing your doors from being kicked in, check out how theBulldog Bar home security products can work for you: theBulldogBar.com .

C-S-I : 3 Ways You Can Feel Safe Again After a Home Burglary Incident

Being a recent victim of burglary can be traumatizing event for everyone at home to overcome... especially if someone was home during the time of the break-in.

Take it from the homeowners behind these 2 stories below-- It's a very scary experience:

"Yesterday we came home to discover that the window in our front door had been smashed and a thief had let himself into the house. The robber made off with two laptops, a watch, a spare set of keys, and a portable hard drive... We were lucky that he or she left many other things, including [important documents, identification] and financial papers."

"Our house was broken into yesterday in broad daylight while we were at work. How can we feel safe again?"

At theBulldog Bar we want to help all of you who have been struck by such frightening misfortune, by giving you 3 easy pieces of advice in order to feel safe again after what happened. Here's an easy way to remember it: C-S-I.

C-S-I in this case doesn't mean "Crime Scene Investigation," it's actually an acronym for...

C- Change Your Locks.
When it comes to changing your locks, look for products that include a deadbolt or a double-locking system. Adding in motion-sensor lighting near your entryways is also a helpful way to keep an eye on your doors and the unexpected visitors who may approach them in the future.

S- Secure windows on all floors of your house.
In many cases we neglect the windows which aren't situated on the ground level of our residences, but securing these small glass entrances can give everyone under your roof a greater peace of mind and an improved sense of security...especially if a family member is in the household alone.

I- Install powerful door security devices to prevent forced entry. High-quality home security products like theBulldog Bar can reinforce your front door, back door & sliding doors so they cannot be kicked in by crooks. theBulldog Bar is also affordable for families on a budget and it's easy-to-install on just about any of your entryways.

(statistics based on reports from 2009-2010):

#1: Purses/Wallets/Money.

#2: Electronics & Digital Cameras.
36% of crooks on this side of the globe have allegedly been after the possession of your high-end electronics & big ticket digital cameras. What does this mean? Hide these items in a safe location, like your secured safe box (which is mounted to your floor) or in a place where thieves are less likely to look (such as a drawer in your bathroom or pantry shelf).

#3: Computers & Other Related Technological Equipment.
29% of reported stolen items involve computers and other accessories that accompany laptops, printers, etc. Be sure to conceal your technology as much as possible by keeping these items away from windows or visible locations like sliding doors or front door entryways.

"Let Me Count the Ways..." 5 Ways Burglars Try to Breach Your Best Home Security Efforts

Having the most powerful door security at your house is just one of the many ways homeowners can prevent burglary .

Based on recent news stories, theBulldog Bar found 5 ways crooks try to gain access to your dwelling... By being aware of thieves' common tactics, you should be able to better protect your residence in the future!

1. Doors and Windows
Believe it or not, most burglars technically don't have to "break in," since a surprising amount of people leave their doors and windows unlocked. In fact, checking for unlocked front, back, and sliding glass doors is first on every burglar's robbery list.

2. When Nobody is Home
A vacant home is a burglar's paradise, considering any and every point of entry is fair game. When on vacation, it's important to suspend newspaper delivery so your subscriptions don't pile up... and have a neighbor collect any packages that might be delivered while you're gone (because these are blatant giveaways that your domain is unoccupied).

3. Spare Keys
Another mistake many homeowners make is hiding spare keys in common areas. Hiding keys under doormats, above door trim, under potted plants, and in fake rocks makes burglary an easy job.

4. Don't Provide Tools
Not all burglars arrive on your property prepared for a break-in. In fact, many of them approach on foot to actually boost their chances of getting away. This simply means: Don't leave household tools like ladders or even shovels lying around...because these can easily be used to break into your domain.

5. Hiding Spots
Tall shrubbery surrounding a neighborhood "castle," especially thick bushes in front of windows, is the perfect camouflage for burglar's anticipated caper. With that being said, be sure to keep your shrubs trimmed and try not to grow them in front of or even next to entryways on your premises.

For even better reinforcement, consider installing high-quality home security devices like theBulldog Bar on all your doors. These products are not only affordable, but they come in a variety of colors and designs to match just about any interior decor.

All Good in the 'Hood: theBulldog Bar 's 3 Tips for a Safer Neighborhood

As a homeowner did you know...?

One of the easiest (and also one of the most common) crimes to prevent.

That's why theBulldog Bar Squad is informing homeowners nationwide about what you (as well as your fellow neighbors) can do to have the best home security tactics in your community...with these 3 easy tips:

a) Get to Know your Neighbors.
Sometimes the best home security tactic of all is living among neighbors who look out for one another. Make it a point to familiarize yourself with those who reside around you. By doing so, you can eventually become comfortable enough to ask these acquaintances to keep an eye on your house when you're not around. Typical activities like kids playing in your cul de sac , couples doing yard work or families engaging in a leisurely stroll up and down the streets can sometimes deter a burglar from stopping in your area to find a potential break-in target.

b) Create barriers to ward off "the bad guys."
What we mean by this is...Use the landscaping around your territory to your advantage, specifically when it comes to the greenery near your windows and doors. If you are planting bushes and shrubs yourself, try using thorny plants like roses and holly... these make it more difficult for burglars to hide or intrude into your residence, because they are more likely to stay away from these difficult-to-endure barriers.

c) Attach an alarm to all your windows, in conjunction with interior door security locks that can easily be opened in case of an emergency. Although a loud-sounding alarm is still not a 100% guarantee that burglars won't come crashing into your dwelling... You may also want to consider the use of glass-breaking sensors on your windows, which sets off a loud alarm whenever a window or a glass door is being broken. Some security sensor models can even detect shock waves that will set off an alarm when front doors are kicked in.

In addition to noisy window alarms, investing in high-quality home security devices like theBulldog Bar are affordable, easy to install and can be dismantled easily from the inside in case a quick exit by a family member is necessary.

So in summary, implementing these 3 "safe neighborhood" tips can turn anyone's humble abode from a vulnerable burglary target into a well-protected domain against crooks...especially when your doors CANNOT be kicked in (34% of burglaries occur from an invader kicking in a front or back door).
