Criminal Minds : What Goes Through the Minds of Potential Burglars

Ever wonder what goes on inside the minds of criminals like home invaders?

Here's a bit of insight from your friends at theBulldog Bar Squad:

These burglars, who usually love to target residences, do their work during the day because it's when residences are most likely unoccupied.

Home invaders usually work by themselves and tend to probe the neighborhood, looking for the right residence to target.

More common targets may be a woman living alone, a wealthy senior citizen, or a known drug dealer.

Alarm signs and decals, bars on windows, strong locks and doors, and dogs that might alert neighbors will typically be a deterrent to these burglars.

Confrontation is typically be avoided-- and they will usually flee if or when they are approached.

Burglaries don’t normally result in any violence, unless the criminal is concerned and uses force to escape.

Home invaders are sometimes people who have been in your home before as a delivery person, installer, or repair person from a vendor.

The greatest violence, if used, will initially occur during the first 60 seconds of the incident happening, and might come prepared with handcuffs, rope & duct tape or firearms. To some home invaders the intimidation is a “rush.”

Now that we've given you a peek inside the minds of these types of criminals, here are a few things you can do to avoid being victimized by them:

 1) Install solid-core doors, heavy-duty locks, window security devices & reliable door security products like theBulldog Bar at your domain
2) Lock ALL doors, windows and garage doors even when you are home
3) Be sure to use your peephole BEFORE opening the door when someone knocks
4) Don't be afraid to call the police if anyone in your neighborhood appears or acts suspicious

If you're ready to start implementing better protection against home invaders on your property TODAY visit our website NOW for more information about our door security devices: theBulldogBar.com.

Rockin' Rob-bery: Know Exactly What it is and How to Avoid it

One of the best ways to protect yourself against crimes like robbery this holiday season is to be aware of what exactly it is, so you know exactly how to avoid it.

Here's some helpful info from your friends here at theBulldog Bar:

ROBBERY DEFINED
Robbery is the taking or attempt to take anything of value from the care, custody, or control of a person by force or violence and/or putting the victim in fear. In short, robbery is theft from a person by the use of force or fear.

ROBBERY BASICS
It is no longer safe to go anywhere at any time. All that is necessary for a robbery is a motivated robber and an unwilling victim at the wrong place and the wrong time.

This could be in either public or private places. It is sad to say, but the robber and their victim may not always be complete strangers. In many cases, they can be friends or even relatives. Most of these robberies involve one robber and one victim, and the crime itself may even last for under one minute.

Most victims typically end up safe, as long as they don’t resist.

ROBBERY LOCATIONS
Most people believe that robberies only occur in banks, late-night retail stores, and gas stations, which actually only contribute to 2-8% of these crimes.

Most robberies occur on the street (44.5%), directly against a person, and are often referred to as a strong-arm robbery.

If force or fear is used against you to steal your car, it’s called carjacking, and if someone robs you at home (14%) it’s called home invasion.

ROBBERY TIMES
Robbery mainly occurs as a nighttime crime, which increases after 8:00 PM and subsiding after 3:00 AM in many areas.

There would typically be an increase during the winter months because of the extended periods of darkness.

Many robbery studies have indicated that robbers like isolation, prefer lone victims, good escape routes, absence of security devices (which calls for products like theBulldog Bar) and very few witnesses.

To start implementing better protection against robbery at your home visit our web site TODAYat: theBulldogBar.com.

The Whole Nine Yards: 9 Simple Steps for Ultimate Home Security

Whenever a family member leaves your house, they leave the zone of protection we have created, so a reasonable family security plan should be developed.

With that in mind here are 9 simple steps everyone under your roof can take for ultimate protection against burglars...even though you're within your zone of protection:

1. Install solid core doors, window security, heavy duty locks and door security devices like theBulldog Bar for your front & back doors.

2. Lock all doors, period!
Make it a habit to always keep doors, windows and garages locked.

3. Try using 4" screws to secure heavy duty lock plates into your door frames.

4. Install and use a door peephole before opening your door ANYTIME someone rings your doorbell or knocks.

5. Use your porch light to help you see clearly outside.

6. Never rely on a chain-latch as a barrier to a partially-opened door, because it can easily be kicked open.

7. Never open a door to strangers, solicitors or anyone you are not expecting.

8. Hold regular family meetings to discuss home security and emergency evacuation plans.

9. Set a home perimeter alarm at night if you own one.

Security protection should be discussed for any type of scenario you may encounter, even away from your zone of protection.

When going to the mall, while in the parking lot, how safe are you when someone tries to approach you? While walking to and from your car in a parking lot, what should you do, how should you react, where should you go, and who should you notify in case of emergency?

We at theBulldog Bar want everyone to be informed about incidents and news so you can be aware of different risks. You may hear of children talking to strangers and getting kidnapped or someone trying to overpower a gunman in a robbery attempt and getting shot.

These situations can usually be prevented by discussing and developing a family security plan, as well as beefing up your protection at home with products like theBulldog Bar .

Cashin' in: 6 More Ways to Stay Safe at ATMs This Holiday

Protection for yourself and your belongings is very important, especially when you encounter someone with bad intent.

So in order to avoid situations that could lead to any form of theft, we at theBulldog Bar have provided 6 more safe-guard tips to follow, particularly while at an ATM:

1. Do not wear expensive jewelry.
Never take expensive valuables with you when going to an ATM. Valuables become an extra incentive for the assailant to divest you.

2. Never count cash at the ATM or in public.
Wait until you are in your car or at a secured area. You never know who could be watching you.

3. When using a drive-up ATM, keep your engine running.
Lock your car doors and keep enough room to maneuver between cars. Allow enough space to get out in case of an emergency.

4. Maintain a supply of deposit envelopes at home or in your car.
Minimize time spent doing your transaction, especially on paydays and Fridays. The faster the better!

5. Closely monitor your bank statements.
Check your balances periodically and immediately report any problems to the bank.

6. If you are involved in a confrontation with an assailant who demands your money…
COMPLY! Period. While theBulldog Bar Squad primarily focuses on home security products, we also believe it's important to stay safe EVEN when you're away from your residence.

By installing powerful door security devices at your domain and taking the best precautions at risky places like ATMs, you'll be much safer from the bad guys... especially during the holiday season!

We've Got Five on It! 5 Statistics Everyone Should Know About Burglary in the U.S.

The holiday season is in full swing... and unfortunately, so are burglary-related incidents nationwide.

If you think your neighborhood is safe enough that a burglary could NEVER happen to you, read on.

Here are 5 significant statistics theBulldog Bar Squad has put together for you-- because the better we understand this crime... the better we can protect ourselves, our loved ones & our valuables:

1. The average arrest rate in the U.S. for those who are actually convicted of burglary is only 13%. This means if your home is broken into, the chances of recovering your stolen possessions are very small because only few crooks face legal consequences for their actions, much less give back what they swiped from you in the first place.

2. Most U.S. burglaries reportedly occur between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM. This illegal act also happens in much higher rates during warm weather months versus the cold season.

3. A typical burglary only lasts from 90 seconds to 12 minutes.
In other words, it doesn't take much time for a home invader to do A LOT of damage.

4. Regionally, the South accounts for 47% of annual reported burglaries in the U.S.
The Midwest and West territories, however, account for 21% these crimes, and
Northwestern area of America accounts for 11%.

5. Residential properties nationwide are targeted for a whopping 70% of burglary-type crimes annually.
So no matter how safe your rural subdivision appears, it could never hurt to take extra precautions.

By extra precautions we mean: timers on your lights, closed curtains & blinds on all your windows and most of all-- reliable door security locks like theBulldog Bar for your main entryways. Implementing home security measures like these can greatly boost your protection against break-ins and the loss of valuable possessions.

Ho Ho Home Burglary Prevention During the Holidays

Remember the 90's holiday classic, Home Alone? Kevin, the youngest of six kids, was accidentally left behind when his family took off for France that Christmas.

This adorable young kid ended up guarding their house by himself. In spite of the many attempts by the burglars to get in and rob their home, this kid was a little too smart for them to succeed.

They tried every trick they knew to rob this house, mostly ending in a disaster. If they had door security devices like theBulldog Bar installed during that time, it would have been a slightly different story.

Holiday related property crimes-
Larceny, burglary, and robbery are not just not limited to this classic movie anymore. These type of crimes will often increase , at least slightly during the Christmas holiday season.

One Police Deputy Director from Illinois anticipates his troops will see an increase of thefts and shoplifting during this time of the year. A person’s car or truck becomes an easy target when shoppers store some of the merchandise they just bought in their vehicles, where thieves are already watching them to make their move.

Another law enforcement official (from Oklahoma Police Department) says that many criminals tend to often strike during the holiday season because the thieves know everyone is too busy holiday shopping.

Criminals don’t always look suspicious-

While they walk around the parking lot looking for a car to break into, they blend in with the holiday shoppers better now than in the past… a very smart move indeed.

Other crimes reported-
Many other crimes will show an increase at this time of the year which include: purse snatching, purchases made with counterfeit money, identity theft, scams of many kinds, and even bank robberies.

Residences as targets of burglary-
Home robbery happens particularly when it looks as though nobody is home. It is the season for Christmas vacations, parties, concerts, and everyone is busy shopping.

Security tips for to be aware of while shopping-
. Park in a well lit area, ensure the vehicle is locked, and all valuables are out of site.
· When approaching your vehicle to leave, walk confidently with keys in your hand.
· Try not to shop alone, carry limited amounts of cash, and keep it close to or in front of your body.
· Carry fewer debit or credit cards and block the keypads when entering your PIN for security.
· When shopping online, make your purchases only from sites you know are reputable.
· Avoid displaying your gifts close to a window, where its in full view, and use timers for your lights making it look like you are at home.

Space Invasion: Preventing Criminals from Invading Your Home

Aside from burglary, one of the most frightening and potentially dangerous crimes that can occur to a family is a home invasion robbery.

A home invasion happens when robbers force their way into an occupied apartment or hotel room to commit robbery or other crimes. This experience can be especially traumatic because it's a violation of our private space at the one place that we consider our sanctuary.

A home invasion is like the residential form of an "automobile carjacking" and unfortunately, this type of illegal activity is on the rise. Unlike carjacking, however, the police department does NOT keep track of home invasions as a separate crime. That's because most police agencies as well as the FBI record invasions as a residential burglary or robbery.

With so little ability to track these incidents, there's not a lot that can be done to alert the public about these horrible occurrences.

For crooks, the most prepared attack is generally initiated through your front door or your garage. In other instances thieves have even been known to pretend to be a delivering a package, flowers or the victim of a car accident simply to get you to open your front door. And s
ometimes... the bad guys will just kick in your front door and confront everyone inside.

How you can prevent a home invasion:
1) For starters, lock your doors and windows. The weakest home security you can have is merely failing to lock your doors and windows, or answering your door at the sound of a knock without hesitating to see who's on your front porch.

2) Stall. If you can delay an attempted trespasser at the point of entry, then you have a chance of deterring them, as well as time to call the police.

3) Ramp up your door security with reliable devices. A solid-core door with deadbolt locks, reinforced striking plates and reinforcement from theBulldog Bar will stop forced entries at your front or back doors.

Going with the (Cash) Flow: 4 Tips from theBulldog Bar for Ultimate Protection at ATMs

As you may already know, the crime of burglary doesn't always take place at someone's place of residence-- a burglary can happen practically anywhere.

This includes hotel rooms (while you're on vacation), conventional office environments & even trips to the the bank or the ATM.

With that being said, ATM safety should always be on your mind, because being confronted by a criminal in front of one of those machines could be a matter of life or death.

That's why we at theBulldog Bar have 4 standard safety tips to share with you... so you can have ultimate protection near ATMs-- especially now that the holidays are here (and illegal is signficantly higher during this particular season).

1) Always pay close attention to the ATM you are about to use and be extra aware of your surroundings.
Never opt for using ATMs at the corners of a buildings or in poorly lit areas-- If possible, do your automated banking in public and only use teller machines in well-lit locations which are free of shrubbery and decorative partitions or dividers. Long story short-- STAY VISIBLE for any financials transactions you conduct at an ATM.

2) Maintain awareness of your surroundings before approaching the ATM as well as throughout your entire transaction. It's also essential to make sure that when you're leaving an ATM you'e not being followed. If you think someone may be trailing you after leaving a bank, drive straight to a police station or a well-lit place.

3) DO NOT use ATMs that may seem unusual in appearance or suspicious (based your gut instinct).
Always trust your intuition. If that particular banking machine requests
information which you are not familiar with giving out at an ATM, or asks for security details you never typically provide during bank transactions, DO NOT disclose that information.

4) DO NOT allow people to look over your shoulder as you enter your PIN.
You never know what people may have up their sleeve these days... so rather than being careless about who sees or knows the Personal Identification Number to your finances, try to just memorize your code so you'll never have to write it down or look for it when you're in a place that may just not be 100% safe.

Now that we've discussed ATM protection we should also bring up the importance of door security protection at your home. Being just as cautious under your own roof can also help prevent an unfortunate situation (like a break-in) from happening to you.

Even though you may feel perfectly safe under your own roof.... it could never hurt to have powerful door security locks in place-- specifically on your front, back & side entryways.

Products like theBulldog Bar can not only boost your protection against burglars, these devices can provide you with the peace of mind you need to sleep well at night-- knowing you are efficiently armed against break-ins.

'Tis the Season to Be Jolly... & Safe From Holiday Crime Too!

As the holidays quickly approach... 'tis the season to be jolly.

'Tis also the season, unfortunately, of increased criminal activity across the U.S.

This includes higher rates of car break-ins, acts of identity theft, pick-pocketing incidents and reports of home burglary.

With that in mind, here are 9 easy-to-execute tips from theBulldog Bar Squad to help you feel jolly all year long and stay well-protected against the crimes which typically occur during this particular season:

1) Be aware of your surroundings at all times.
Statistically, criminals have often been known to prey on people while they are distracted (i.e. talking on their cell phones, running after their children, etc.).

2) Secure all handbags and book bags properly when you're away from your residence.Thieves like to go after belongings like these when they're left unattended in a car or in your cart while  you're busy shopping.

3) Never walk away from your valuables or bags of newly purchased presents while you're out shopping-- not even for a minute. It only takes a split second for a crook to swipe anything of yours once it's out of your sight, so keep your eyes on all your possessions at all times.
4) Carry your purse close to your body any time you're away from "your castle."
This can easily be done by placing one end of your purse in the palm of one hand, and securing the opposite end of your handbag using the bend of your elbow. Never carry a purse by the handle or the strap in any circumstance however, because it can be snatched from your arms a lot more easily).

5) Carry your wallet in the breast pocket of your jacket or in the front pockets the your pants you are wearing. This is a much safer way to hang onto your hard-earned money.-- Storing things in the back of your pants is definitely one of the easiest ways to be pick-pocketed.

6) Scan a copy of your photo ID and all the credit cards you currently own.
This could save you all the headaches & hardships that seem to arise when they are lost or stolen.

7) Travel only on well-lit streets and populated areas if possible.
For added safety upon leaving your domain, try to bring a friend close companion with you, especially at night.

8) Don’t wait until you walk up to your front door to look for your keys.
It's much safer to have them ready before getting out of your car or before approaching your main entryway.

9) Always trust your instincts.

If your intuition tells you that leaving home or entering uncharted territory (like an empty parking lot or dark alley) may not be the best idea, then go with your gut!

You can also trust in effective home security products like theBulldog Bar to provide you with the increased protection you need to feel comfortable under your own roof, no matter what time of year it is.

theBulldog Bar Sprays It Out Loud... with the Best Home Security Products

At theBulldog Bar we receive e-mail questions all the time about the effectiveness of tear gas for self-defense during residential invasion circumstances.

The truth is... tear gas is very effective, but only in the hands of a trained person.

Tear gas is considered a non-lethal personal self-defense device, but it has also been known to cause accidental deaths under certain conditions.

Chemical sprays like tear gas come in three different categories:

1) CN or c
hloroacetophenone
This was used by the military and police departments in the 60s and 70s but is no longer widely used. This gas has a fairly slow reaction time (3 to up to 30 seconds) for those who are doused with it.

2) CS or
orthochlorobenzalmalononitrite
This chemical is a micro-pulverized irritant that infiltrates the mucous membranes of the nose, throat, eyes and skin in high concentrations. CS may be considered better than CN because it's readily available to the public, and is effective against violent attackers and is toxic-- which can cause vomiting and choking.

3) OS or oleorosin capsicum
OS is a self-defense product which is extracted from chili peppers and is more commonly known by the name of "pepper spray." Pepper spray was made available in 1977, but ONLY for police & law enforcement officials to use. Now this product can be found in the hands of the general public worldwide. OS can
be highly distressing for a "bad guy" to experience when sprinkled with it... mainly because it can induce excessive coughing, choking and nausea as well as dilation of the eye capillaries (or temporary blindness). Skin contact with this chemical can cause a burning sensation and can further be aggravated by rubbing the area. One small burst of this strong stuff can render an attacker disabled for up to 45 minutes without causing permanent damage.

Self-defense sprays like the three we just mentioned are so potent that they're illegal in some states of the U.S. Airport regulations don't even allow them to be carried onto airplanes. Additionally, a multitude of building security procedures strictly prohibit the possession of these kinds of chemicals on their premises.

In summary, tear gases are a reliable source for personal self-defense, but only to fight off an attacker. Chemical spray products, however, are NOT to be used offensively... like to protect your property or do harm to someone you merely dislike.
As for protecting your property(such as your household), door security locks like theBulldog Bar can work more effectively to keep invaders out of your humble abode.

Don't Be Left in a Holi-Daze...by Burglars!

The holiday season may be a time for celebrating with friends and family, but it is also prime time for break-ins and theft.

So why not start the holidays off right and relieve some of your stress... by making sure your home and your cars are protected with the best door security devices and tips to prevent it?!

The FBI’s statistics show approximately 400,000 burglaries occur in the United States from November to December each year. So here are some helpful tips from your friends at theBulldog Bar to prevent that crime from occurring where you reside:

1) Always leave a light on.
Everyone looks forward to a vacation over the holidays, especially thieves. Hiding the signs of a vacant home, however, will help convince potential house invaders into thinking you are actually under your own roof, even when you're not. Additionally, leaving your lights on and setting up timers for your holiday lights as well as inside lamps will give off the impression that your humble abode is occupied!
2) Put your car on lockdown.
As everyone knows, shopping goes hand-in-hand with the holiday season. As you rush from store to store, packages can accidentally be left on the backseat of your car and in plain sight for criminals. To be safe, store all your Christmas goodies in the trunk instead, and don't forget to park in a well-lit area in addition to locking your doors.
3) Protect your third floor walk up. Even security doors and building superintendants cannot deter a committed thief. This means, always be aware and sure that the locks in any building doors (like your front door, laundry room & storage areas) are always in proper working order. If you live in an apartment or condo, don't forget to make sure your balcony door is locked (because thieves won’t enter through the front door in these particular circumstances).
4) Give yourself a peace of mind.
No matter how prepared you think you can be, it seems like the bad guys can still find their way into your domain... That's why we at theBulldog Bar want you to be absolutely positive that you have adequate homeowner’s, renter’s and automobile insurance coverage to rest assured. Having the best home security devices like theBulldog Bar can also provide you with the same peace of mind when adequately installed.
5) Know what you've got.
If you ever become a victim of theft, you may already know that it will make your claim process easier if you have a complete inventory of all your missing items. With that being said, organize your personal property by room, category and/or by item list. You can also photograph items and attribute a cost and quantity to each one.

In a nutshell, here are 5 important theft prevention tips you can implement for improved protection against burglary.

Temptation Island: How NOT to Tempt Burglars from Breaking Into Your Home

With the emergence of high-tech gadgets and elaborate electronics today, it's hard NOT to covet your neighbors' things...especially if you're a thief!

So here are some handy ways (according to yours truly at theBulldog Bar ) you can prevent home burglars from being tempted to break in and steal your new (and expensive) belongings:

1) DO NOT leave lawn mowers, snow blowers, barbecue grills and bicycles in visible sight. Even though your neighborhood MAY be safe, it only takes one incident to diminish your sense of safety on your own property.

2) Always lock you garden sheds, storage sheds and garages. While it may not seem likely that someone would rummage through those areas of your residence...sometimes the bad guys can get the most 'bang for their buck' with a few stolen home improvement pieces which are typically stored in those locations.

3) Try using curtains in all your windows including garages and basement windows. Natural light may always add a nice ambiance to parts of your dwelling which don't usually get a lot of TLC...but installing curtains in those rooms is an essential part of boosting your security against anyone who may have an eye on some of your valuables!

4) Never leave notes in front of your door saying “Gone Fishing" or "Out Shopping.” One of the biggest mistakes we make when we feel 'safe & sound' is trusting that everyone around us is just as harmless as we are. Avoid leaving notes on your door and simply call or send a message to those who truly need to know your whereabouts while you're away from your humble abode.

5) Get the best door security locks for your front, back & side entryways. No locks, regardless of brand or quality, can be 100% effective. That's why we recommend you back them up by using a combination of deadbolt locks and products like theBulldog Bar ... to provide you with enough protection for your main points of entry.

Lockin' It Down: 10 Ways to Improve Your Door Security at Home

When it comes to having the best home security measures in place at your residence, sometimes the best thing to do is to simply go back to basics.

So here are a few strategies from theBulldog Bar Squad that can make it a piece of cake to protect your household against thieves & attempted break-ins:

1. Make it difficult for invaders to attempt gaining access to your property, by constantly making your humble abode appear occupied from the outside. Timers on your interior lights can help do the trick.

2. Lock ALL outside doors and windows before you leave the premises or go to bed in the evenings. And when leaving your domain, even for a short time, be sure to ALWAYS lock your doors.

3. Be sure to leave the lights on when you go out. If you should leave the house for a couple of hours make it a habit to connect your lamps to automatic timers so they'll switch on and off during the evenings.

4. Always keep your garage door closed and locked, even when you're under your own roof. An open garage door is a huge temptation for criminals to scope out your valuables and potentially return at a later date.

5. Do not allow daily deliveries of mail, newspaper or flyers to build up while you are away for days at a time. Make arrangements with the post office, with a friend or a neighbor to collect all your packages & new arrivals until you're back in your neck of the woods.

6. Arrange for your lawn to be mowed, even if you have plans to go away for an extended period of time. Landscaping negligence is a huge sign of an unoccupied territory--and it can also make for ideal hiding spots when it comes to break-ins.

7. Check the locks on your doors, windows and gates regularly. Be sure to replace them when needed, because putting it off by just one day could coincidentally be the day when someone tries to access your homestead and take all your valuable belongings.

8. Avoid installing push-button knobs on front, back and side entry doors to your digs. This type of doorknobs are easily opened by intruders.

9. Secure entryways to your residence which can easily be compromised. Sliding glass doors, for example, are vulnerable... so adding special locks to the weakest openings of your house can definitely provide better security

10. Inspect the windows in all your rooms to determine whether any of them (especially in older houses) may need better locks. You can always find newer window protection items at your local hardware store.

So there you go. Ten hassle-free ways to improve your door security measures in order to enhance your protection against home burglars.

Door security locks like theBulldog Bar can also make it easier for you to boost your safety & sleep sound at night, knowing your doors can't be kicked in and your valuables can't be stolen.

Connect Four: Understanding the 4 Types of Burglary

At theBulldog Bar we strongly believe the best way to beef up your home security measures is to better understand the 'act of burglary' first, so you can implement your burglary prevention tactics more effectively.

What many of you many not be aware of is that there are actually 4 types of burglary, according to the law:

1) Completed Burglary
This is an illegal act in which a person who has no legal right to be present in a 'structure' (meaning a household, a hotel room, your car, etc.) successfully gains entry. This can happen both by use of force, or without force at all.

2) Forcible Entry
This is a form of completed burglary in which a 'force' is used to gain entry into a residence or other type of 'structure.' Some examples include: breaking a glass window, slashing a window screen or prying open a door jamb.

3) Unlawful Entry Without Force
Like forcible entry, this is also a type of completed burglary committed by someone having no legal right to be on the premises even though no force is used.

4) Attempted Forcible Entry
This is an example of burglary where force is actually used in an attempt to obtain access to someone's living quarters, office space or other kind of 'structure' (which he/she does not legally have permission to enter).

Givin' You a Peace (of Mind) with theBulldog Bar

What exactly is the definition of burglary again?

As a reminder from your favorite home security team ( theBulldog Bar Squad, of course)--

Burglary is defined as unlawful or forcible entry or attempted entry of a residence.
This crime usually, but not always, involves theft.

Illegal entry could be by force, by breaking a window or by slashing a screen. It can also, however, be committed without force--such entering through an unlocked door or an open window.

As long as the person entering has no legal right to be present in the "structure" (aka your household), a burglary has technically occurred.
While the word "structure" in the aforementioned example refers to a residence, it can also be used to defined other types of property which have been broken into. This includes illegal entry of a garage, a hotel or even a vacation home.

Now that we've refreshed your memory about the legal definition of burglary, we want to also remind you about the importance of having powerful door security in place.

Whether it's your condo, apartment, dorm room or lake house--the place where you reside for any period of time should have the best home security devices in place.

Simon "Seis..." 6 Hassle-Free Ways to Boost Door Security

When it comes to achieving ultimate security at your home, there are 6 hassle-free ways to boost your protection in just minutes.

Here are a few recommendations from theBulldog Bar Squad:
1) Place an extra lock on your sliding glass doors.
One really simple trick is the use of a piece of wood in the sliding door's track. This will prevent your door from being pushed open if your current locks happen to fail.

2) Purchase a timer for the lights inside your house when you are out for long periods of time.
Statistics show a burglar would rather break into an empty house than to be confronted by the owner face-to-face, so make your dwelling appear as though there's a lot of activity by programming your light timers to switch on when you're away.

3) Install motion detectors and proper lighting.
This is an essential strategy for homeowners in rural areas to implement, especially if you have privacy fencing or light obstructions from your landscaping.

4) Immediately replace all your broken doorknobs, locks and latches.
Broken parts can be a huge a deterrent to the security of your home if they aren't fixed or replaced, so be sure to address that the moment you realize one of your door security devices are no longer operating efficiently.

5) Properly lock all your basement windows.
One of the most overlooked areas of the house is the basement. While it's good to allow some fresh air into your basement from time to time, always remember to close these windows when your basement is sufficiently aerated, or if you plan to go out.

6) Make sure the doors that lead outdoors to your pool or patio are kept locked at all times.
A strong set of deadbolts for added protection should be also installed in these areas, in addition to powerful door security devices like theBulldog Bar.

Theft Behind...How to Avoid Identity Theft by Preventing Burglary

Home burglary isn't just an incident that leaves you feeling violated or at a loss because your valuables were stolen...it can also be a huge risk of having your identity stolen.

That's because along with your material possessions that can be stolen, residential invaders are also capable of taking credit cards, bank statements and even passports or other important paperwork from your home.

When someone else has access to personal information from these kinds of documents, A LOT of damage can be done... mainly from identity theft.

Identity theft happens when someone uses YOUR personal information (such as your name, social security number name or credit card number without your permission) to commit fraud or other crimes.

A criminal with your info at their fingertips could:
- run up your credit cards
- drain your bank account
- take out a mortgage under your name or
- commit an illegal act and pretend to be YOU when caught.

These thieves can even use your identity to apply for a job, buy a car and take advantage of your medical insurance without your authorization or you even knowing it's being done.

And if too much time passes while someone is posing as you...your credit score could be destroyed & your financial credibility could be completely wiped out without you having a clue about what happened.

So how can you protect yourself against identity theft? One easy way is simply to secure your home & the valuables under your roof properly.

This can be done by:
- investing in a fire-proof safe that you can bolt to your floor
- password-protecting your computers, smart phones & tablets so your information can't be accessed by anyone else
- installing powerful home security devices (like theBulldog Bar ) on your windows, side entryways, as well as your front & back doors

Additionally, there are several services out there today that offer helpful identity theft protection strategies for you to implement.

These services typically work by  monitoring your personal information (such as bank accounts, credit card numbers, financial details, etc.) to prevent identity theft. Many of them can even detect any suspicious activity associated with your personal information as well.

Here's the bottom line-- identity thieves can strike in numerous ways at any time and anywhere... so the more protection you have in place, the more safer you are against this unfortunate crime.

Lucky 7s: theBulldog Bar 's 7 Helpful Ways to Protect Your Home from Burglars

At theBulldog Bar we are aware that there are many homeowners & apartment dwellers out there who are really getting worried about their homes becoming a target of burglary today.
You may also be looking for some ideas for home and apartment security.
Unfortunately, burglary is definitely on the rise-- and this trend is not a surprise as neighborhoods and surrounding communities continually grow in size.

You, of course, can keep your family & yourself safer as long as you follow some tips on how to keep your home from becoming a target of burglary like these:

1) Clean your yard.
The outside appearance of your home will certainly make a difference... so safety begins from the outside. Do not leave toys, tools or garden equipment lying around. It will always be a temptation to anyone who sees those belongings of yours. If you live in an apartment, you should not let anyone you don't know into your building or onto the premises. This is one huge way burglars are easily able to gain entry.

2) Make sure there are no dark or concealed areas around your home.
Cut or trim the shrubbery around your home, especially those which are close to a window (where thieves can have access to your residence).
Also, install enough lights outside to brighten your surroundings.

3) Close all windows whenever you leave home.
All doors and windows should always remain closed and locked regardless of how long you are planning to be away from your main headquarters.

4) Install a peephole (AND a device like theBulldog Bar ) at your front door to see who is at the door before opening it.
Should anyone try to force their way into your humble abode, you'll be able to see the culprit... and theBulldog Bar , when in place, should deter them from doing so.

5) Never leave any notes for anyone posted on your front door.
This even applies to notices for a package delivery person.
Your presence or absence in the house will be a giveaway to those who have been scoping out your home to try and get in at some point.

6) Unplug your garage door opener if you're leaving for several days.
This will totally eliminate "accidental" openings or tampering with your garage door codes.
Additionally, have your trusted neighbor collect your mail, newspapers or any package deliveries while you're gone.

7) If you are in an apartment parking garage, never leave anything of value visible from the outside of your car.
Be sure your garage is well lit and always be aware of your surroundings, especially when it gets dark.

By following these 7 suggestions you can be well on your way to achieving ultimate protection from break-ins at your household.

Products like theBulldog Bar are also a powerful means of staying safer as well. For more information about theBulldog Bar home security products be sure to visit theBulldogBar.com TODAY.

When Opportunity Knocks (for Burglars)... Be Sure to Keep 'em Out with theBulldog Bar

You must have heard those infamous stories by now... about the ability for burglars to drive up and down the streets pushing the button on a garage door opener remote control, until they find a garage door that will open and allow them to just come into and burglarize homes instantaneously.

In case you didn't know, garage door-opening technology has been around since the 2nd World War-- so now, manufacturers who are aware of the above-mentioned incidents have now turned to dip switches for their products (which allow homeowners to set up 256 different access codes).

While manufacturers assumed their new numbers system pretty much took care of random break-in problem, it actually didn't make much of a difference at all... because many neighborhood garage door openers (especially in older neighborhoods) still use the older openers with those same-easy-to-manipulate codes, which still leaves residents at high risk for residential burglary.

For thieves, however, the scene on the home front has become even easier today.

That's because some "sophisticated burglars" now have electronic devices called Code Grabbers, which could also be used for stealing CARS.

While standing close to your house, all someone (holding a Code Grabber) has to do is point their device to your remote control when you open and close your garage door in order to grab the codes to your device.

Once stored ...these professional house invaders will be able to open your garage door anytime you leave your house, to enter and steal your valuables.

Scary thought, right?!

The two best things to do to beef up your security measures these days is to:

1) Upgrade your remote control or your whole garage door opener, and remember to unplug it when you go on a long vacation

2) Invest in a high-quality home security device that will keep burglars from kicking in your doors, breaking into your home and taking your possessions.

Products like theBulldog Bar are perfect for improving your home security measures.

Have a Ball... While Keeping Your Home Safe from Burglars with theBulldog Bar

So you decide to go to this ballgame one weekend with a friend.
Hoping to save more money, you and your buddy park in a cheaper, dimly lit lot (which is a decent walking distance from the stadium) where it appears safe enough to leave your car for a few hours.

Unbeknownst to you (or anyone at all for that matter), someone breaks into your vehicle within minutes of the game's opening play...and steals your GPS system, the toll change in your ashtray, your garage door opener & several pieces of paper from your glove box (including car registration info AND an insurance card with your home address and phone number on it).

It isn't until after the game that you discover what happened upon approaching your car to go home... and now you can't help but feel very violated that someone broke into your property and took your belongings. What's even worse about the situation is this-- whoever swiped your items NOW knows where you live and has garage door access to your home, which means you are at risk for being burglarized AGAIN.

Car break-ins happen all too often unfortunately, and it's best to make sure that if someone ransacks your mode of transportation, they can't gain access to other important property or information about you following the crime.

Moral of the story? Protect your home from theft with powerful door security devices like theBulldog Bar to ensure your doors can't be kicked in. And when leaving your car unattended, regardless of which parking area it is, hide or remove your car registration, garage door openers and insurance cards.

To find out which design of theBulldog Bar is best for securing your doors at home visit: theBulldogBar.com. With added security measures in place for both your automobile AND your residence, you stand a much higher chance of being protected against bad guys.

"It's in the Bag!" One Big Reason to Protect Your Home with theBulldog Bar

Picture this happening to you:

Your handbag "mysteriously" disappears at home, which contains your cell phone, credit cards, wallets and  cash.

You call your spouse or partner from your landline to tell him/her what just happened, only to learn that your situation is much more severe than simply misplacing your purse--

Your house was burglarized WHILE you were home, but only your bag (which was near the front door), was taken.

To make matters worse... those endearing security names you use when communicating with loved ones (which also happen to be your security passwords for debit/credit cards & other money matters) are now apparently flying across the airwaves.

How'd you discover this? Because as you continue your rant about your missing handbag, your spouse or partner interjects by replying, "I received your text asking about our PIN to our check card and I sent it out a while ago. Was that not YOU who texted me, asking for that information?!..."Oh, what a terrible sinking feeling.

Immediately you hang up the phone with your partner to quickly get a hold of your bank to inform them what has just happened. Unfortunately... the bank employee tells you your money has ALREADY been withdrawn.

That means, whoever broke in and stole your carry-all that held some of your most valuable belongings knew just what to do with your cell phone, by extracting personal information and contacts to track down your PIN and quickly drain your bank account.

While it is always a good practice not to list your personal contact information on electronic devices that could possibly be accessed or hacked, it's also imperative to confirm your source (when sensitive info is being asked through text) by calling back.

Additionally, it's very important to better protect your household to prevent thieves from breaking in, compromising your privacy and stealing your valuables.

Home security devices like theBulldog Bar can give you the safety and peace of mind you need to feel safer so your family (as well as your valuables) stay out of the hands of burglars and under your roof at all times. For more information about theBulldog Bar visit: theBulldogBar.com .

Time After Time: When Homes Are Most Prone to Burglary

Burglary does not typically reflect large seasonal variations,
although in the U.S. burglary rates are the highest in August, and the lowest in February.

Seasonal variations reflect local factors, including the weather and how it affects
occupancy, particularly of vacation homes.

In warm climates and seasons, residents may leave windows and doors open, providing easy access, while storm windows or double-pane glass protect against harsh weather provides a deterrent to
burglary.

The length of the days, the availability of activities
that take families away from home, and the temperature may
all have some effect on burglary.

In the United States, most residential burglaries–about 60% of reported offenses–occur in the daytime, when
houses are unoccupied.

This proportion reflects a marked change in recent decades: in 1961, about 16 percent of residential burglaries occurred in the daytime

By 1995, the proportion of daytime burglaries had risen to 40 percent. This change is generally attributed to the increase in women working outside the home during those decades–leaving
houses vacant for much of the day. Thus, burglaries are often
disproportionately concentrated on weekdays.

Usually, victims suggest a time range during which the offense occurred. Some researchers have divided burglary times into four distinct categories:
1) Morning (7 a.m. to 11 a.m.)
2) Afternoon (12 p.m. to 5 p.m.)
3) Evening (5 p.m. to 10 p.m.)
4) Night (10 p.m. to 7 a.m.)

This is why we at theBulldog Bar suggest you keep your dwelling properly armed against thieves 24 hours a day, no matter matter whether you're home or not.

Our home security products can reinforce your doors to prevent them from being kicked in... theBulldog Bar security devices are affordable and easy to install on just about any entryway to your home. To find out how theBulldog Bar can work for you visit theBulldogBar.com NOW.
